ADCU Earnings and Security Claim

EARNINGS:

Driver earnings are going down year on year with downtime between fares increasing and mileage rates not reviewed for 10 years.

ADCU members demand:

  1. An immediate increase in earnings of 10% for all drivers through both an increase in the 45p per mile rate and reduced waiting time;

  1. Greater transparency for ADCU and licensing and Local Authorities on how earnings are calculated, particularly dynamic earnings and work allocation through Artificial Intelligence systems as a starting point for earnings negotiation;

  1. Commence negotiations to pay drivers for all Engaged Time, including but not limited to driver/drivers waiting at pick-up.

DRIVER SECURITY:

App-based private hire drivers face continued insecurity over their jobs as well as earnings, forced to work as bogus self-employed workers without contracts of employment, sharing all the risks but few of the rewards of their industry.

  1. To stop the suspension of drivers when passengers make allegations and replace with due process and representation equally for all drivers before disciplinary action (except where allegations of sexual misconduct are made or directed by licensing authority to do so);

  1. If any passenger allegation is proven to be false Uber will pay full compensation to Drivers for the period of their suspension;

  1. To negotiate a new, fairer star rating system with ADCU members, providing transparent details of how the data is collected and used to allocate work and what steps platform employers have taken to protect drivers from discrimination;

  1. To conduct a joint review with ADCU and licensing authorities of Driver's licence numbers and the impact that these are having on utilisation rates and earnings;

  1. To commence negotiations with ADCU to offer drivers who choose to do so the opportunity to move to a Self Employed Plus contract (SE+) similar to that offered in other parts of the UK logistics industry - as a first step towards worker status.
