ADCU members joined a joint Day of Action in Harlesden alongside the Brent Green Party, the Pull the Plug on Waymo campaign and supporters from the local community to raise concerns about the rollout of driverless vehicles in London.

The protest highlighted concerns about the introduction of autonomous vehicles without proper consultation and the potential impact on the livelihoods of thousands of private hire drivers who rely on this work.

Participants called for democratic oversight, meaningful public consultation and clear protections for workers affected by emerging technologies. The action also highlighted wider concerns around job losses, reduced earning opportunities and the need for fair transition arrangements for professional drivers.

ADCU's position is clear: technology should improve transport, not come at the expense of workers' livelihoods. If autonomous vehicles are introduced, there must be strong legal protections, public accountability and a just transition plan for drivers.

The protest formed part of ADCU's ongoing campaign to ensure that the future of transport works for both communities and workers.
